Home Renovation Training

Home Renovation Training Program

The CEDC’s home renovation training program trains the participants to be able to completely restructure a home or apartment.  The students learn how to design the structure, install plumbing & electrical systems, drop a ceiling, lay tile, install vinyl siding and execute basic home repairs.  This program provides on-the-job training and actual experience for the students/apprentice and helps eliminate abandoned houses which are death traps and lead to neighborhood deterioration.

This program is a “sweat equity” program in which participants learn a trade and a skill and get valuable experiences.  Participants have an option to rent or purchase the property after the rehabilitation is completed.  Bricks and mortar are not the only foundation for a house: a job and building the person for the house are also key components.
